We need to make a bridge to connect the two sides of a canal. The canal is 5 meters wide and 2 meters deep. The villagers constructed this canal as part of the effort to control the flood. The retaining walls of the canal are made with the rocks on site. Looking at the abandoned village and the hill and the vegetation that appear extensive, we wanted to create a bridge that is made of a thin steel plate.

The elevations of the two sides of the canal are different, which created a natural arch to stabilize and reinforce the strength of the steel plate. After consulted with the structure engineer, Yuan Xin, we designed a tension bar underneath of the arch to provide the support to the bridge.
